An idea brewing... Bath, UK

Where reading and tea blend together.

Literatea is building a place for people who love to read, drink tea and slow down. We are a book and tea company offering a way to escape from the daily grind. Anyone who loves reading, or the cosy feel of a good book with a cup of tea, is welcome in our community.

An Idea Taking Shape

We all need to take some time to pause and feel connected to the present, even if our imaginations want to escape to another world, and what better way to do it than with a book and a cup of tea.

Literatea is taking form. Shaping itself to be a place for people who love reading, drinking tea and escaping the daily grind.

Right now, we’re working on turning our idea into reality. We’re looking for the perfect location, adding books to our book stacks and curating a range of teas for all kinds of tastes.

About Literatea

Literatea began with the problem of doing too much and feeling overwhelmed, and wanting a cup of tea and a good book. But as home is also full of distractions, we wanted a bookshop cafe. A place that would feel like a cosy spot to read, relax and enjoy a cup of tea.

Teashops are genteel places to enjoy an afternoon tea and feel intrinsically linked to classic novels, whilst high streets are built on coffee shops, laptops and a jittery buzz. But what if there was something in between? A book and teashop offering a different vibe.

Because of a love for books and people, we want a place to meet friends and hold a book club around a teapot and plate of biscuits. One that serves a community of all ages and literacy stages. If you read one book, or a hundred, we want Literatea to be a welcoming place for you.

Stories and tea are at the heart of a local community where book lovers, family and friends get to share their ideas. Where slowing down and getting lost in a good book replaces the rush of doing too much and still not getting anything done.

We’re working on getting this place right. On writing all our ideas down and fine tuning them so that when we’re ready, we’ve got more than our first few paragraphs. If this idea resonates with you, there’s a good chance you’ll feel at home with us.

Something refreshingly novel.

What We Offer

Books, Tea and Community

At its core we offer books, tea, and a place to build a local literary community. Where you’ll be in the company of like-minded people, drink tea and can have a bite to eat.

Curated Collections

A carefully selected collection that celebrates local stories, local literary history and books we enjoy and are recommended by you. Plus a range of gifts for book lovers and tea drinkers.

Loose Leaf Tea

A balanced range of teas that reflect traditional tastes and adventurous flavours alongside tea making accessories. Our food menu is still in development.

A Third Space

Somewhere that encourages a community of like-minded people to share in the timeless activities of stories and cups of tea, in a calmer, more cosy environment.

Local Focus

Wherever possible, we aim to support local authors, suppliers and ideas, whilst building connections that reflect the communities that we are part of.

We hope to bring something different to the community.

Something Refreshingly Novel.
